Since my filters got so bad in 1500 miles (gravel access road) that the bike started hesitating quite badly, I needed to go re-usable. I wanted a K&N filter rather then a flat foam because it has much more surface area. I got this on sale for $65.

These are the old filters. The smaller one is already cut out. Notice that what shows of the bigger filter's dirt is AFTER I hand washed these with soap and water; before that you couldn't see any yellow thru the gray.

I drilled thru the heat stakes with a small diameter drill first, then I used a bigger one to remove the rest of the material, just enough to get the frame loose.

Both frame and metal mesh on the filter backside are loose now.
