I'm back!!

Postby buellboy9 » Tue Apr 02, 2019 9:28 09

After a very disappointing (and infuriating) experience with my 2013 BMW C650GT I have sworn off the Bavarian brand for good. They will NEVER sell me another vehicle, two, three or four wheels. I'm still a BMW customer because of my 1999 K1200LT. That might be the last of the "old school, will run forever" bikes from that brand. Nowadays they're built to last just a little longer than the three year warranty and after that, if you have a problem you can go pound sand.

Just left a deposit on a 2019 XMAX. With luck I'll be picking it up Saturday. In the meantime, I found the owner's manual online and I've been boning up on my new acquisition and reading what everyone here has to say about the scooter. It looks like I made the right decision!

I would really like to have an Xmax as well. What's with the Matte black only version for 2019? Gloss black or a nice deep red color would be nice to see. Don't really want another bike payment right now though. Maybe later.

So far I'm LOVING this thing. Posted some photos of the changes I've made already on another thread. I did a 277 mile round trip to visit friends two States away this past Saturday and it did very well. Mileage is fantastic BUT it is a bit sensitive to cross winds.

Did you trade in your Majesty? I may have missed if you said so. If so, what did you get for it? I just got back from a dealer and they were gonna give me $500 for mine. I left. On my Majesty.

The Xmax sure is tempting to get, but so is the Kymco line. BUT....no dealer around here has anything but the 50cc ones.

I never had a Majesty. When I first joined this forum I had a 2009 TMAX that I bought as a left-over. That one I traded in for a 2013 BMW C650GT and that was the biggest mistake I've ever made though I didn't know it at the time. As soon as Yamaha brought back the updated TMAX I should've traded that POS in for it, but I didn't. Last Spring the C650GT ate its (Kymco-made) engine and left me stranded 200 miles from home. The failure was the timing chain tensioner, a part that had already been replaced under a recall campaign. Since the scooter was two years out of warranty, BMW NA told me (in the most polite way possible) that I could go **** myself as the bike was "too old" and they weren't going to do anything for me.

A replacement engine would've cost me $4,000.00 and that doesn't even include the labor charges. According to the NADA site, the scooter was only worth $5,000.00 at that point. I just signed the POS over to the dealer and let BMW know I will NEVER buy another vehicle from them two OR four wheels. The fact that the failing component was manufacturerd by Kymco has also soured me of THAT brand as well. Yamaha has been leading the Consumer Reports "Reliability Rankings" for awhile now so when I heard about the XMAX I did my research and decided to go for it. The price is right and it has all the performance I need. As a bonus, it is also easier to maintain than a TMAX and has more available underseat storage than even the redesigned TMAX they're selling in Europe.
