FOUR PASSES Tour of the Sierras!

Postby Sku-Torr » Tue Jan 14, 2014 3:05 03

This Spring, in late April/early May after they open and are groomed, but before all the tourists hit, my brother and I are doing a 4 day tour through the Sierra Passes on our Tmaxes. That's right, four of 'em! Here is the ROUTE:
Sierras Tour Route Map.jpg

DAY ONE is from Coarsegold North to the Yosemite Entrance, and then east through Yosemite and up and over the Tioga Pass, down out of the Park to Mono Lake and north to Bridgeport. 148 Miles of INSANE Scenery, just cruising and warming-up.

DAY TWO is West from Bridgeport back UP on 126 amazing miles through the Sierras via highway 108 and the Sonora Pass to Sonora and North to Arnold.

DAY THREE is the BOMB! From Arnold we go East 134 miles up and over Ebbets Pass on Highway 4, which is MORE SCENIC than Yosemite, loop North and back West through Carson Pass and down to Pine Grove.

DAY FOUR we are cruising South from Pine Grove back down to Coarsegold, just chillin' through the hills, 136 miles.

That's the Agenda! Join us for any or all of it!

I take an annual ride on my motorcycle every year around Memorial Day. My route is usually from Sacramento, hwy 49 to hwy 108, over hwy 108 to 395 and stop in Walker for a burger. From there, head to Monitor Pass and then it's either left on hwy 4 back home, or right to Markleeville and on to Lake Tahoe and home via Grass Valley. Depending on when you ride, I may try to meet up with you around day 2 or 3. It's a fantastic ride no matter where you go up in that area.

Seriously, that looks like an amazing ride. I'm a bit remote from this area, but still temped. Remote now, but was born and raised in LA. Now, a bit north, by several long-ride days.

The point about snow in April is a good one to consider. I've ridden in snow, and it ain't no fun at all. Oh sure, it's all fun until someone loses a leg... then it's hilarious. Seriously, cold is not so fun, and gravity is not always on our side.

But, being anxious for two-wheeled adventure, I'll certainly keep following this thread.

Too bad I'm 6 years late to this party. However, I'm keeping that map for another day. In 2 weeks I'm doing NorCal coast from SF to Crescent City and back popping on and off which ever roads and highways call my name.
I took my M1 test on a 250cc Honda, which they called a motorcycle. So, why is my 400cc fuel-injected liquid-cooled dynamo not a "real bike"??
