It holds the rear tire down rather than using straps from the handlebars compessing the front suspension.
This is an excellent idea for bikes and scooters with body work that won't allow standard handelbar tie down methods to be used. The system doesn't rely on partly compressed suspension to hold the bike, therefore the tie down system remain stable when bumps are encountered.
