I recently got a great deal on a slightly used '05 charcoal Majesty for 3,000 bucks but am just a little concerned about it's decreased visibility on the road. Has anyone considered changing the color of their plastic panels? I am curious how much it would cost. If I remember reading a thread correctly, it was only 2 or 3 hundred bucks to change out a Yamaha Vino 125. I wouldn't consider an insane cost, but getting the bike at such a great price has allowed me the room to consider the possibility. Anyone have insight or experience with this? Thanks!

I think you are right to consider the color. When I was taking my MSF course to get my motorcycle license endorsement, I asked my instructor on this point, and he was of the opinion that color is very important as it relates to visibility, though motorcycle color is not very apparent head-on. On a scooter, however, with large fairings, color is crucial, and it was a major consideration in my purchase of a candy red Majesty when I finished my course. Charcoal is probably the worst color (or non-color) you can get, since it will blend in with the road, so if you buy it, make sure you make it more visible one way or another.

I would consider a technical school or Junior College with an automotive Body & Paint program. Many of these schools have advanced students who will do a great job for the price of the paint and a nominal fee.

I don't seem to have any trouble with anyone seeing my charcoal grey 06. However, I do have an estimate for parts only from my dealer to repair mine, after a laydown. $2332.14. That is replacing everything that is even scratched.

Please understand that I am not casting aspersions on the charcoal grey color or those who ride grey and silver scoots. I think grey is probably the best looking color, but it's hard to argue that it is also the least visible. By the way, CajunBass, do you wear a riding jacket, and if so, what color?
