Extended Warranty

Has anyone purchased an extended warranty yet for the Majesty? If so, any thoughts on where the least expensive place would be to get it?

Thanks.

I wouldn't buy one. I used to sell boats, and we loved to sell those things. Pure profit for the dealer. Take the money you were going to spend and put in the bank.
When I put the deposit down on my Majesty, I asked the salesperson about an extended warranty. He said it was not a good investment because of the reliability of Yamaha products. Needless to say, I followed his advice and didn't get an extended warranty.
I turned it down also. Generally speaking most products from Japan dont not need an extended warranty.

And I dont ride enough to warrant one, this area only has a 7 month riding season.
I almost never buy an extended warranty for anything. Nothing but a big ripoff. I didn't buy the extended warranty when I bought my 05 Majesty, either. Just about when the 1 yr warranty was about to expire in November, I decided to order an FJR1300A. I also learned of a dealer in Alabama that would sell a 4 yr warranty for only $260. I bought it thinking it would make it a lot easier to sell the Majesty. Scooters/motorcycles are fairly expensive to repair. Parts and labor are very expensive. Four years for $260 seems like a pretty good deal to me.
Do you happen to remember which dealer it was in Alabama?
This time I did. It's pretty rare that I do, but since I'm planing to run 35k miles per year, thought it'd be a good idea. Think it was $440. Didn't like that it doesn't cover wear items including piston¿? Fully agree with it not covering brakes, tires, normal preventative maintenance, etc... but hope it covers me wearing it out, cause it'll happen. On my cars I generally run 300k and then trade 'em in. Have not had to do a mechanical repair on the last 3! although the 1 of 'em I got tired of and sold at 233,000 miles.

I too purchased the extended warranty from Yamaha. I usualy do not, but since the Majesty was a relatively new model in the US, I chose to get it. I think I paid about $400 for it as well.
Personally, I won't buy the aftermarket plans. I bought one when I was young and paid a premium for it. When I needed it, suddenly the company was "in bankruptcy" and couldn't pay out.
Since this plan is from Yamaha, I feel safe that I won't have a repeat experience. I don't know of anyone who has used it though.
1. I bought a 4 year with mine ('05), about $400, since I have never had any real problems with 20 different MCs, except the one scooter, Honda Helix, which scared me a little since $5000 was 2-5 x more money than I usually put in a bike, the $100/year was peace of mind, especially since it was the first year it was out.
2. The Helix problem was it being 20 years old, poor thing, ran great, just strange things going amiss like in an antique car.
