3 weeks, mostly in Switzerland, then Germany and the UK. I travel quite a bit for work and find myself in Zurich 3 or 4 times a year. And yes, there are a lot of scooters there. Mainly Piaggio and Vespa stuff, especially in Switzerland, but you do see the occasional Burgman or Majesty 250. Piaggio really does own the continental market. The next most common thing there are dual-sport motorcycles.
Another funny thing. You are all by now familiar with the blanket/skirt thing that attaches from the scooter to cover the riders legs during the winter. Saw lots of those; it's what you do with it when you park that's funny. Some leave them attached, some store them in a bag, and some people 'wear them off', meaning they keep it on and wear as they walk around town like a skirt. Was not expecting that.
Did lots of driving while there. Alps have sublime roads that would make for good riding. Which is why they are congested with sportbikes from Italy in the summer. But the roads in northern England, around the Lake or Hill districts, are just as fun. Pavement is not as smooth, but they make up for it in dips and turns. It takes a bit to get used to driving on the wrong side of the road though.
Maybe I'll check in the Majesty as baggage next time...
