Welcome to the group. I loved your story. Please don't tell me your friend was riding a Burgman too (with that great seat). That also explains the power button.

If he was riding a majesty, or even if it was a different scooter, please tell me manufacturer of his seat. I like the OEM seat quite well but would like a functional backrest even better.

I don't recall the name of the manufacturer, but you could ask Indiana99 for his opinion. Yes he was riding a Majesty 400, and I on a 650. We did ride each other's scoot in the big vacant parking lot. The Majesty is a fun to ride machine! I loved the throaty sound too...
