Hi
My name is Joe Dawson. My home is Southeast Michigan, but I'm currently living in HCMC Vietnam. I have ben here for about 6 weeks and will be staying for 6 months. I was here in 1968 during the war and wanted to come back for a long time. I own a Majesty 150 here which is one of the largest bikes in the city. None of the dealers sell anything bigger than a 150 because you need a permit from the government to buy anything bigger. I have probably saw more scooters and motorbikes here than everyone on the board combined. They are how the locals get around and they carry everything on them. I have seen washers and refrigerators on the back of their bikes. The traffic is terrible and they don't obey any traffic laws, but I'm having a good time. When I get back to the states I will get a scooter for me and my wife.

Welcome along to the forum, Sneaky Pete. I knew the Majesty was made in a 250, but didn't know a 150cc also was made. Enjoy your stay in VietNam, we'd love to see some pictures of your 150cc. It also would be especialy interesting to see pics of people hauling the large items on the back of their scoots. You can email the Admin and he will set up an account for you.

Good to have you here Joe. This is a top notch forum which I'm sure you'll enjoy. I'm Doug Thompson and am from Pikeville, Kentucky located in the East part of the state. I'm retired USAF and served 8 months at Plieku AB, RVN as well as 3 months in Quin Yong (Phu Cat Air Base) back in '69. I would love to go back to VN. The best steak I ever ate was there at Siagon, er, Ho Chi Minn City now. At the NCO club.

I look forward to seeing some pictures from you here on the Photo Gallery. I know it's much different now there. I have spent some of the best years of my life in the Far East.

By the way, I left some of my youth there. If you see it, would you return if to me ?

Hello Sneaky Pete.
That name rings of Green Beret don't it???
I arrived in 'Nam on the end of Tet '68. Stationed in Kontum, Central Highlands. In '69, unit moved to Bong Son.
I also would love to see some pics of the modern VietNam, along with your scoot. I remember that most of the bikes then were the little Honda's (almost all were light blue and white), and the three wheel Cushman style taxi's. Seating for 4, but would haul 12.
I'm fairly new here too, but welcome aboard.

Hello,
Living here in Can Tho, Viet Nam. I have been riding a Honda 125cc,
Suzuki Eupicuo 125cc. And just brought a used Yamaha Majesty 125cc.
I will try to post the picture of it as soon I figure out how to do it.
Any way, when I get back to Sacramento, CA. I will definitely look
to buy a 250cc off brand. I'm just can't afford $4,000+ for a new scooter.
Was here in Viet Nam, 1971, An Khe, 4th Inf. Div, then Camp Eagle,
Phu Bai, 101st Airborne.
Say, where do you get your parts for your Majesty, they say you
can only get in Sai Gon.
