Pulling the battery out?

Do I just remove Cowling A to get the battery out or does the passenger seat & tailpiece need to come off?
Thanks, Phil

Just Cowling A, as soon as its off your looking at the battery , no need for any other parts removal.

Just remove Cowling A as per page 6-8 in the Owners Manual. My account of removing and reinstalling my Maj's battery can be found in the `How To' section under the post `Battery charge?'

I hope things go smoothly for you Phil!

Just an FYI on the battery removel.
There is no way I could remove it without taking the passenger seat out - (number 5 hex, slide the seat forward-flat angle) and then the piece under the passenger seat (number 6 hex for 4 screws, they are really torqued on hard). This makes it really easy - I tugged, wiggled etc but could not get the battery out by just removing the A cowling.
Had a bettery tender jr hooked up all winter. The first time out it started hard. the second time wouldn't turn over. Back to the dealer (0nly 1 K on this new YP400) who found 2 cells dead and gave me a new battery.
