service intervals? & performance

what are the required service intervals for the majesty 400?

How well does this scooter perform? when going 65mph, are you able to throttle and pass and vehicle? How does it handle in windy conditions? My B400 scared me being so lite, that's why I'm a little nervous to even look at a 400 scooter again.

this is one on my list to look at this week if my shoulder can't handle the weight of the bigger scoots.

Thanks.

Oil Change every 3000-4000 miles (I believe).
Belt Change every 12500 miles.
Valve check every 24000 miles.

At 65 mph, you have plenty of throttle, plenty of throttle left, even two up with the trunk filled. I have had her up to 90 mph (indicated) on a straight away highway section and she seemed just fine. I was keeping up with traffic on the left lane and when I looked down at the speedo, I was surprised.

As far as windy conditions, this is my first bike so I can't make a comparison. However, whenever I go over a bridge here in NYC there are often windblasts (especially the Verrezanno). The Majesty has never even come close to feeling unstable, especially when you don't have the vice grip on the handlebars.

Good luck with your choice. If you can afford to wait a while, maybee some of the other manufacturers will come up with something that makes you say "gotta have it". Perhaps the upgraded burgman 400 will make it stateside. It has been improved with the engine and tire size benefits of the Majesty, but lacks the Majesty's superior (IMHO) frame design. That frame helps the Majesty with highway performance at speed and, I would imagine, with wind and cornering as well.

Take care and God Bless.

You can download a .pdf version of the Majesty Owner's Manual from the Yamaha Motors USA website: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/produ ... /home.aspx

Click on "View Your Owner's Manual here" and away you go!
so if I read the manual right, then there is no valve adjustment due at 600 miles. only at the 26600. wow...

At 26,660 mi. or 42,000 km -- that's what it says. I'd like to know how many years it would take the "average" Majesty owner to put on that many mi./km. Given my riding style and the short riding season here, I may never have to get a valve adjustment!!
I've had mine up to 85mph and it still had room to go. The power it has surprised the heck out of me. I've been on Houston's freeways quite a bit with no issues.
Nancy,

I have the 2005 Majesty and find that it has plenty of power. I have had it up to 107 or 108 indicated. That is about 98mph with the 10% error on the speedometer. I have rode 2 up at 85 and it still had more to go. I had the Reflex and then bought the Majesty since I live in the S.F. bay area and needed the extra power and weight. Unless you live in a very windy area I think the Majesty will do very good for you. I have had many cycles, including a 1986 883 Sportster and think you will really enjoy the Majesty. I find it to be more comfortable than the 883 I had too, although you can never replace a Harley. I was very impressed with the power when I bought it because I didn't think it would have as much as it does. Just don't think it will have anywhere near the pickup of your Sportster. But it does go fast and is very comfortable.

Jeff
I also own a Sportster!! I can tell you I would much rather ride my Maj. It's alot more fun and easier to ride!! IMHO!! In fact, I've ridden my Maj. longer into the winter then I ever road any of my HD's that I have owned!!

All in all, I love my Majesty!!

Kim
I plan to see 26k in about 8 months! I'm going to be almost ALL hwy, so can probably double the belt service interval. Will know soon enough!
