Time for Tires

1786 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Bobb
My '05 has 11k kilometers and will need a rear tire by 14k.

I just bought a Pirelli &*& GT for $85 and wondered what kind of mileage other people are getting on tires.

Any preferred model for longer mileage ?

TIA

Both the Pirelli and the Avon claim long mileage.

My first ['05] Majesty came with IRC's...the tyres were seriously wearing even at 4500 mi [ 7200 klicks ]

The second [ '06 ] majesty came with Dunlops ...I've got hopes for better wear. I STILL have a set of Pirelli on backorder since the first of April...

i dont know what you are doing on those irc's !

my 05 has them on it (from new) and i have almost 14k km on them now. the rear looks like it's about 50% and the front still looks almost new.

i think ill get somewhere around 20k km on the rear, and a heap more on the front maybe even near 30k km.

Guys, I think the reason people get much different results with their tire wear is due to the composition of the roads where you ride most of the time more than riding habits. While riding habits enter into the equation too, the road composition is a much bigger factor, unless you are doing burnouts or something equally renegade :)

I put the Pirelli on Weds and rode 1000 k over the next 24 hrs. Compared to the flattened stock tire it was amazing.

2 lane sweepers with no traffic. Good ride !
