I was at a major intersection yesterday and I quickly accelerated on a green light to get out in front of all the cars so I could cross 4 lanes in order to exit a few miles up the road. Once I completed my move I proceeded at the posted speed limit. But evidently I got the attention of some guy in his "Too Fast, Too Furious" wannabe Honda Civic who wanted to show me how fast his "whip" was off the line. So, at the next light he pulled up beside me and kept racing his engine. Well, I'm 40 and I'm not about to foolishly race anyone on a public highway. But when the light changed, he gunned it and I simply twisted the throttle not really trying to compete with this guy. But as I was coming up to speed I realized that he was losing ground. Yeah, he beat me across the intersection... but after that he was only visible in the rearview mirror! And he was falling farther behind! I backed off at 65 mph and cruised to my exit. A few seconds later he came "buzzing" by after having his "whip" whipped by a scooter! If I would have had a Malossi variator he would have been toasted from the start! It takes more than a loud muffler and some vinyl graphics to make your car fast. I wasn't even trying and left him behind.
Hey that is a good story...I am really impressed with the bike's acceleration from about 35-80. Very quick...probably give most cars a run for their money.
lol, what a riceburner. I hate those 'tards
(I enjoy roasting them once in a blue moon in my Maxima... bet they didn't expect a midsize family car to haul in front of them!)
You should get the Maloosi. I have it and it is a big improvement to about 65mph. When I am going 80 mph I'm only doing about 5800 rpms instead of 6000 rpms before I installed it. I have measured this on the same highway going in both directions. It makes the Majesty feel like a bigger bike to about 65mph. After that the performance is really just like the stock variator.
I've been considering doing just that and going with the 12 gram weights as I am very heavy handed on the throttle on take offs. I think I would feel better having the power come up sooner. But I don't know if I want to put anymore money into performance upgrades for the scooter as I am considering buying a Kawasaki ZZR600 sportbike to feed my adrenaline jones. I love the Maj as a commuter though as it carries everything I need for work and school and makes mundane chores like a grocery run more fun. I don't know, if I don't get the sportbike by this fall I may hook up the scooter this winter. We'll see!
