Two new riders in Elk Grove, California

Hi Everyone,

My wife Debbie and I took delivery Jan 23rd of matching '05 Silver Majesties. We are both brand new riders. :D :D I took the MSF class in December and got my license the last week in December. Deb just got her MSF cert in the mail Friday and will dash into the DMV this week to take her written test and get street legal. Both of us had the distinction of being the only ones in our respective MSF BasicRider Courses of never having ridden a motorcycle. But the instructors were terrific and the courses were jam-packed with useful info, so here we are. Since last Monday, we have only had a handful of 30 minute rides around the neighborhood due to inclement weather and family commitments. We have three boys, and delighted them by taking them 2-up with us Saturday before the temp dropped and the wind picked up :D :D :D. We are waiting for the armored riding pants we ordered to arrive in a week or so before we attempt freeway speeds and commuting to work. At that point, with matching scooters, jackets, pants, and boots, we will be the cutest couple you know  I am looking for a hot pink, grinning skull and crossbones decal to put on the front of Deb's scooter so we can better tell them apart. No luck yet.

Specific hellos:
First of all, hello to GreenGoose, I hope you have made it home safely already from Afghanistan. I have been lurking at burgmanusa.com for several months, and came that close to buying a burgman. That is a wonderful site, full of lots of good people and information. I'm a software developer by trade, and appreciate a well designed, responsive web site.
And hello to kb6zmj, fhauck80, and myhrdly (John, Frank, and Kim). Kim, I love your personalized plate. Hope to see you all around the 'hood.

Congratulations on your new silver Majestys. I took delivery of my new Majesty on Jan 25th. (the faster blue one). I have put about 50 miles on as of today. The weather is not condusive to scooter riding here in Iowa right now. :D

Welcome to the forum! Consider having a skull & crossbones pinstriped on her bike. Most stripers have hot pink paint & could add a little pizzazz if you'd like it. You won't be sorry for choosing the Majesty-- great bikes and loads of fun. Hope to read some of your road stories soon!
Blex: I had to tell you, I mentioned your suggestion about pink pinstripes to Debbie, and to my surprise her face just lit up. Boy, you think you know someone. She is now looking about for a local custom place to do the job. I will post photos when (if? Nah, it's when) we have it done.

Best, Dave

Dave,
Congrats on the new bikes and passing the course. Like you, I'm a noob too. I'm very familiar with Elk Grove and that will be my first "destination" ride as soon as my bike, a Burgman, is fully broken in. I have family in that area and hope to head there over Mt. Hamilton.

Having ridden a bicycle all over the Sacramento area, I'm looking forward to seeing it all again on the scoot.

Good luck to you and ride lots.
